WELCOME
Relational Body Therapy acknowledges that by nature, yoga has therapeutic value. This training is the first specialist training in the UK for working in this rich field – an area that we feel has great benefit for both student and teacher. By approaching our work with sensitivity and developing our listening skills, we can see that working one-to-one highlights the continuous unfolding and often challenging process of being a body and a person in the world where we all have to continuously relate. Kate Ellis, the Founder of this training has crafted ‘the art’ of working in this way as a response to the ever-present need to support the psychological material manifesting during physical practice and was born out of a process spanning 18 years of teaching and training teachers to work therapeutically. Kate worked with her own teacher one-to-one for 10 years and has taught on both the Yoga Campus Yoga Therapy and Triyoga Teacher Training. She is currently writing her first book ‘The Art of Teaching One-to-One’ which will be published next year. Inspired by Embodied Relational Therapy (Nick Totton and Allison Preistman) developmental movement and developmental somatic psychotherapy, process oriented work and a deep love and respect for the body and its intelligence, this training offers us a means to understand our self and client in a deep and profound way through practicing within a relationship built on non-judgment, trust and awareness.
